PlayStation 3 is expected to become the most powerful video game console on the market when it arrives later this winter, but Sony’s plans seems to be a bit too optimistic. Now it has once again had to review the specifications for the console and according to The Inquirer it is the GPU, also known as RSX, from NVIDIA that has been changed. Earlier it had to remove one of the HDMI outputs from the console’s specifications. Although Sony hasn’t removed anything now, just lowered the graphics system’s frequencies from the planned 550MHz Core and 700MHz memory to 500MHz and 650MHz, cutting the GPU fequency by almost 10%.
There is no information about what caused the decision, whether if it’s NVIDIA or Sony that’s the cause of it. In the end though, this is hardly something we, the consumers, will notice as there most likely will still be more than enough power left.
