Samsung chose to display the capacity of the next generation mobile phone net yesterday. During a two day presentation of the 4G technology Samsung showed how you could achieve speeds of up to 100Mbps when travelling at 60km/h (40mph), which is actually faster than many broadband connections of today. It is suppose to be possible to reach these speeds even when travelling at up to 110km/h (70pmh) and Samsung showed how you would be able to stream high-res TV broadcasts over the net. It is counting on that the 4G technology will appear with mobile phones at the end of 2008 and we assume Smasung means in Asia then. The 4G format is not expected to become commercial until 2010.

“Samsung has invested more than $100 million in its 4G technology, which it bills as a next-generation wireless service that will replace mobile WiMAX technology.”

There will most likely not be any problems with browsing the web using your mobile phone in the future if Samsung is able to reach these kind of speeds today. Samsung also displayed another wireless technology that allows transfer rates at up 1Gbps, which is about 50 times as fast as the WiMAX technology.
