ATI has now announced a new DTV circuit (Digital Television) called Xilleon 260. The new circuit brings full HD support for TV broadcasts worldwide, which means that Xilleon 260 can handle all of the possible HD standards used in Japan, Europe, North America and Korea. ATI will display the Xilleon 260 circuit during IFA in Berlin, Germany, on September 6 and it hopes that with the successor to Xilleon 240 electronics manufacturers will be able to satisfy home cinema enthusiasts with its high quality sound and video.

“Xilleon 260 includes an exceptionally powerful video pipeline for SD and HD content. Advanced features include HD deinterlacing, 3D comb filter, dynamic contrast, noise reduction, sharpness, and color control to deliver top quality end-to-end performance. Xilleon 260 also offers a full audio subsystem for home theater applications.”

ATI has already started to ship circuits to electronics manufacturers for evaluation and considering ATI’s already strong position on the home electronics market Xilleon 260 will most likely gain its share of followers as well. Let’s just hope that HDTV broadcasts spread even more thanks to this.
