We’ve followed Dell and AMD very closely the last months as Dell started to manufacture and sell servers equipped with AMD’s CPU’s. This showed that the company had redefined their views on AMD and their CPU’s. After that we’ve heard a lot of the quantity of CPU’s being supplied to Dell from AMD and how Dell has planned to use AMD CPU’s in several types of computers. And now the first desktop computers have been introduced by Dell featuring AMD CPU’s, and the two historical systems called Dell Dimension E521 and Dimension C521.
Dell offers as usual several different CPU’s for their systems and for those interested you can choose between AMD Sempron, Athlon 64 and Athlon 64 X2 CPU’s. The E521-model uses an ordinary miditower chassis and is directed to clients who use a lot multimedia and office applications. The system is also equipped with TV-tuners and Microsoft Media Center operatingsystem.
Both systems also seems to be directed at people with a lower budget but one can still choose between a whole arsenal of components to equip the computer with. AMD CPU’s up to Athlon 64 X2 5000+, a maximum of 4GB DDR2 RAM and several different storage sizes.
The Dimension C521 is a bit smaller than the E521 but offers almost the same component configuration. The main difference seems to be storage and graphics, more information can be attained at Dell.com.
