Logitech Harmony is the name of the fast growing multi remote control series from Logitech and it has often received good reviews where especially broad compatibility and usability is in the center of attention. Separating them from the rest, Harmony has often used rather small displays but that is about about change. Now that Logitech presents Logitech Harmony 1000 it’s the display that’s the attention grabber. The new model namely has a massive touch screen and has been given a design similar to that of more extreme solutions from Philips and other established remote control manufacturers.
Harmony 1000 looks more like a remote control panel and with its 3.5″ display there’s no doubt what will get your attention. Even if the new touch screen model is consierably more expensive than most other models of Logitech’s assortment the price is still lower than that of most other high-end remotes on the market. How Logitech stands up to the compeition remains to be seen, but some new alternatives is never wrong. But the question is how many that can afford to pay $499 for a remote, even if it’s cheaper than similar solutions.
“When people first pick up the sleek, rectangular remote, the 3.5-inch color screen displays icons associated with entertainment activities — such as Watch TV, Watch a Movie, Listen to Music, or Play Games. One touch of any of these icons can put an entire home-entertainment system in the proper state for enjoyment of the activity.”
