A chat with the creator of the SFF

Over at DigiTimes they have managaed to get a hold of none other than Ken Huang, the man behind Shuttle’s XPC-barebones.
Shuttle is as many of you know the leading brand on the SFF-market and according to many the company that started what we today call the SFF-market.
Ken Huang is VP of Shuttle’s system development and is thought of as the creator of Shuttle’s SFF-concept.

DigiTimes has taken the oppurtunity to ask him a couple of questions regarding Shuttle’s SFFs and what they think the future might look like.
Among others we find out that Shuttle is one of the companies that welcome Apple’s introduction of the Mac mini, which in turn indicate that their XPC-concept has caught Apple’s attention.

They also mention Intel’s PicoBTX-standard that Shuttle so far is the only one to implement. This seems to be a “just in case” introduction as the heatdevelopment on Intel’s systems are far from gentle.
The efficient cooling of the BTX-standard is what makes Intel push for it, but Shuttle stands firm and relies on their patented I.C.E. coolingsystem.

There are more interesting questions and answers to be found in the interview that focuses on Shuttle’s SFF-systems. The whole interview can be found at DigiTimes.
