That’s what Matt Hartley claims in his column over at OSWeekly. Hartley discuss why Linux hasn’t been able to really measure up to Windows in terms of usage and even if Linux has become broader and more common among regular beings there is still no doubt there is a big hardcore hype around it. Many users still prefer using text-based commands instead of a graphical user interface, but these people doesn’t represent the masses. At the same time he discusses who divided the Linux community is and that we have a lot of actors which are fighting against each other instead of the common “enemy.”
By uniting and perhaps even starting up a trust, which looks over the community, it would be able to improve a lot of things. E.g. be able to spur a better and more pressional driver development. He presents some interesting thoughts, but alas they feel very distant.
