AACS has been the target of a real onrush lately. A number of users at mainly doom9.org have been working day and night with trying to create a universal solution for making backups of HD DVD, but also Blu-ray, movies. The user ATARI Vampire has now managed to to take the next step as he has managed to localize the “Device Key” which WinDVD 8 uses. Even if it we’re quite not there yet it’s just a matter of time before we have a non-commercial application that allows backups of HD movies to be made, without having to use movie-specific codes with each movie.
