ABIT AX8 – VIA with PCI-E

0

ABIT AX8 is yet another new mainboard for AMD’s Athlon 64-platform and this time the mainboard is different from the competitors as it uses a chipset by VIA, VIA K8T890. This “old” chipset now been renewed with PCI Express-support, which we’ve already seen quite a lot of mainboards with though. At HardOCP they’ve taken a closer look at what VIA has to offer this already crammed market and also how ABIT has managed to tame VIA’s chipset. In the end it that they are left feeling incomplete as the board is very nice in many aspects, but also has some not so nice. Overlocking seems to be one of them.
