One of the greater downsides of netbooks, at least in my opinion, is the low-res LCDs. The standard resolution of a 10″ netbook is 1024×576 pixels, isn’t just crowded but could also lead to compatibility issues with some applications. After Dell presented its 720p option for the Inspiron Mini 10, several netbook makers have revised their offerings, even more after Intel lifted some of the restrictions of 10.1″ netbooks and allow higher resolutions.

Besides Dell, we have also seen Sony take advantage of this with its Vaio W series where it has implemented a 1366x768px resolution with a 10.1″ display.

Acer is said to be launching a new version of its D250 model that has been enriched with a LCD at 1280×720 pixels, also this a 10.1″ model. With a 1.6GHz Atom processor, 1GB RAM, 160GB harddrive and various other classic netbook features the new model will cost around $350. It ships with a 6 cell battery that promises up to five hour battery time.

The new D250 model will launch with five different color options; pink, red, white, blue and black. More pictures of the netbook at CB.de.
