Acer Aspire S3 looks to become the first Ultrabook and also one of the thinner with only 13 – 17 mm in profile. Now we have the exact hardware specifications in three versions and prices. The top model gets a 240 GB SSD, while the other two get 20 GB SSD paired with 320 GB harddrive.
We have been reporting about Acer Aspire 3951, or Aspire S3, shipping with 20GB SSD and a mechanical 320 GB drive, that pointed to some sort of SSD cache technology. We did not have the detailed specifications that has now been listed in Hong Kong, where we see three models.

The cheapest is in line with the first prices we heard and comes with Intel Core i5-2467UM with 1.6 GHz, 2.3 GHz in Turbo mode. The second model is a bit more expensive with its Intel Core i7-2637UM. It’s clocked at 1.7 GHz that brings a more aggressive Turbo mode at 2.8 GHz, and 1 MB more cache. Both models gets 20 GB SSD an d320 GB harddrive, but we have not had it confirmed what kind of SSD cache it will use.
The last model that also counts as the top model will “only” get a Core i5-2467UM, which could be a compromise for keeping the price down. Instead of a mechanical drive it will ship with 240 GB SSD, which should weigh positive on the battery time.
All models ship with 3-cell Lithium-Ion battery, which is below the 6 and 8 cell batteries that other companies are plnning to use. The battery time is still specified to “over 6 hours”. Acer Aspire S3 is expected to launch this month.
