Google looks to have gain some wind in its Android sails and after several circuit manufacturers displayed Android compatible units and circuits at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) last week, more whispers of coming products have appeared. According to new sources, both ASUS and Acer are interested in building on the Android platform. Both manufacturers already have smartphones but are said to be willing to expand with new Android-based models.

ASUS is said to launch its Android-based Garmin phones during the first half of 2009, while it also launched a new Windows Mobile based phone called M20 at the MWC.

Acer also dipped its toes in the Windows Mobile pond by acquiring phone makers E-Ten Information System. To broaden its mobile venture Acer is expected to launch two Android models before the end of the year. Neither ASUS nor Acer has commented on the information, but no matter that it looks like Google has a hit with its mobile phone operating system/software package.
