Acer Ferrari was the first laptop to be launced along with a car branding, but Acer’s Ferrari series was a huge success and since then several other manufacturers have followed by teaming up with other car brands for better marketing, among others ASUS/Lamborghini and Itronix/Hummer. Acer has now lanched two new models in its Ferrari series and not unexpected it’s AMD’s new Turion 64 X2 processor under the hood. Acer has gone for a bigger performance model with a 15.4″ display in the form of Ferrari 5000 but at the same time it hasn’t forgotten about those who put mobility first and therefore also launch Ferrari 1000 with a 12.1″ display.

Both models use Turion 64 X2 processors but other than that there isn’t much in commmon. Ferrari 5000 uses a thin and light carbon fiber casing in black and Ferrari-red. Except from a relatively large display Ferrari 5000 also offers a lot of technologies such as WLAN 802.11g, Bluetooth 2.0, Gigabit Ethernet, 1.3Mpixel web camera and a harddrive at up to 160GB. You can also chose to upgrade your 5000 model with a HD DVD player to sport the latest optical format.

Ferrari 1000 is not as powerful but comes with a weight of only 1.7kg so we forgive them. Just as the 5000 model the 1000 has an integrated web camera and power its 12.1″ display with ATI’s Radeon Xpress 1150 chipset.

Exactly when Acer’s new Ferrari models will arrive and at what costs are yet to be revealed.
