Acer looks to have misjudged the launch of the thin notebook Timeline series. We’ve been wondering how they solve the cooling with such thing notebooks, and Acer seems to have answered us. Its 13″ Timeline series hasn’t been able to solve the heat problems and is now forced to retract selected models from the market.

The affected models are AS3410, AS3810T, AS3810TG, AS3810TZ and AS3810TZG, which all have displayed problems with overheating. This has resulted in system crashes and deformed cases, which does sound pretty bad to be honest.

According to Acer’s support site it is, a bit unexpectedly, a microphone cable that is behind the problems. Through pressure on the left hand support it overheats the computer. It claims that a simple replacement of the microphone cable will be enough to fix this. Good news for both Acer and affected customers, even if both parties would be better off without the problems to begin with.
