Acer may only be the third largest PC builder but if there is anything it is doing right it’s notebooks. During September, Acer is said to have shipped 3.4-3-6 million notebooks, which is more than both Hewlett-Packard (HP) and Dell. Interestingly Acer Aspire One, the new netbook, made up a third of the shipments. Certainly proof of how attractive these small beings really are.
HP shipped the second most notebooks with 2.5-2.7 million units in September, while Dell shipped somewhere between 1.8-1.9 million systems during the same period. Acer’s progress comes largely from a rise in sales on the European market, but also steady sales in North America. If Acer can keep this pace there is a great chance that it will meet its goal of becoming world’s biggest notebook manufacturer in 2011 sooner than expected.
