Intel’s new Centrino-platform is on its way and among the first to be shipping the new platform in form of laptops seems to be Acer. Acer TravelMate 8204WLMi will be fitted with a dual-core Yonah-CPU running at 2GHz. More nice features as ATI’s latest mobile creation X1600 Mobility with 256MB own memory, 2GB RAM, 120GB harddrive-space and widescreen-display measuring 15.4″ with a resolution of 1680×1050 pixels, makes this a real beast. Despite this, the three kg-machine lasts three hours running wihtout running its batteries empty. With Acer’s reputation of “much bang for your buck”, the price was assumed to be pretty humane and bearing it’s contents in mind it is, but it is still a lot of money. In Great Britain it will cost 1,760£, what that means in the rest of the world remains to be seen.
