AGEIA PhysX has just been launched and except from the gamers that wanted to experience the new physical effects in games, which there are very few so far, also overclockers and enthusiasts has shown interest. Futuremark’s 3DMark06 benchmark namely supports physics acceleration and a PhysX card should be able to improve the performance. Now a user at XtremeSystems has posted some results with 3DMark06 with and without AGEIA’s PhysX card and the results are, alas, quite negative, today there is no performance to gain which makes ut wonder what you require on Futuremark’s behalf to be able to really use the PhysX circuit. Soon we will perhaps see PhysX cards with more extreme cooling with the most hardcore benchmarking rigs. Through Quad SLI on top of that 3DMark benchmarking is almost starting to become a team sport.
