Windows Vista will be launched as a whole bunch of different versions, six to be more precise. Now it seems that all consumers which decide to invest in a version of Microsoft’s new operating system will get the remaining versions for free. Microsoft will namely release a DVD disc containing all Vista versions. A move which will simplify and lower costs for manufacturing the new operating system. But as most people already know there are now free lunches, you can only install the version you’ve bought.
Microsoft will also introduce its Windows Vista Anytime service which makes it possible to upgrade its Vista installation very fast and simple. Putting all versions of Vista on the same disc is really to ask for trouble when piracy comes into the picture, but for Microsoft’s sake we hope that it has thought this through when developing this system.
