AMD 690 chipset delayed again

0

AMD 690 was previously known as ATI RS690 and later renamed after AMD acquired graphics circuit manufacturer ATI. The chipset has been on the way ever since AMD first launched its Socket AM2 platform in the middle of this year, but has been delayed for various reasons. Now it seems that AMD 690 with its integrated graphics circuit will be even further delayed and the reason is suppose to be the licensing of HDCP. This could be a problem for the circuit’s HDMI support and ASUS which is planning an AMD 690 motherboard in January may have to launch a board without both HDMI and HDCP. We will have to wait and see how long time it will take for AMD to solve the problems with the 690 chipset but we’re looking forward to seeing what this interesting integrated circuit can do in e.g. an HTPC.
