AMD will soon launch the new 7 series of chipsets, which will replace the older 5/6 series. The new 7 series will include a number of chipsets, where the renowned RD790 chip is the perhaps most interesting one as it has been designed for the high-end segment through its support for PCI Express 2.0 and HyperTransport 3.0. The mid-range segment will be covered by new RX780 chipset, but AMD will also launch new chipsets with integrated graphics circuits; RS740 and RS780, sporting DX9 and DX10 respectively. The launch dates of AMD’s new chipsets have now been posted by DigiTimes and will be the third quarter for RX780 and RS740, while the high-end RD790 and RS780 are not expected until the fourth quarter.
