AMD is for the first time in a very long time not the king of the performance hill, but the manufacturer’s prospects are still very positive. It has now announced that it is expecting to ship close to 46 million desktop processors in 2006. According to an analyst company, not mentioned by name, the total desktop processor market will be 141 million processors in 2006, which means that AMD is going for an even bigger cut of the processor market for stationary computers and increase its 22 percent share of the market.
