AMD recently announced through a press release that it has taken several steps closer to a final acquisition of graphics circuit manufacturer ATI. Waiting for the merge to happen during the fourth quarter AMD has now been able to clear a number of fair compeition laws, among others Hart-Scott-Rodino Antitrust Improvements Act from 1976 in the USA. But also similar laws have now approved the acquisition in Canada and Germany. If we look past all of the technical terms this means that the merge seems to be going as planned.
There are still some guidelines the deal has to follow and last but not least ATI’s stockholders have to approve of the acquisition. Which will hopefully happen during a meeting on Ocotber 13 in Toronto, Canada.
“We look forward to the October 13th ATI shareholder vote and additional regulatory approvals, and to merging the companies to drive growth, innovation and choice for our customers, partners and the industry.”
