Electronic Arts has released the beta versino of the anticipated action game Battlefield 3. Those who pre-ordered the game on Origin has received beta keys and now both AMD and Nvidia have rolled out fresh drivers with big improvements for Battlefield 3 that becomes free beta on September 29th.
Swedish game developer Dice is behind the game with a hype greater than ever for a title in the Battefield series and one of the more discussed topics have been the new engine Frostbite 2.0.
Frostbite comes with full DirectX 11 support and advanced physics raising the requirements for a full experience high. Battlefield 3 will most likely be one of the main attractions for graphics card makers when the Christmas shopping begins, which it has prepared for by tweaking their drivers.
Both AMD and Nvidia have issued new fresh drivers with optimizations for Battlefield 3 and both promise big improvements, especially for those with the latest generation GPUs.
AMD Catalyst 11.10 preview is more or less a hotfix with optimized support for Battlefield 3 and brings the following news;
- Improves performance in Battlefield 3 Open Beta release for both non-Anti-Aliasing, and application enabled Anti-Aliasing cases on the AMD Radeon HD 6000 and AMD Radeon HD 5000 Series for single GPU configurations
- Improves performance in Battlefield 3 Open Beta release for both non-Anti-Aliasing, and application enabled Anti-Aliasing cases on CrossFire configurations using the AMD Radeon HD 6000 and AMD Radeon HD 5000 Series
- Enables support for Eyefinity 5×1 display (portrait and landscape) configurations using the AMD Radeon HD 6000 and AMD Radeon HD 5000 Series
- Vision Engine Control Center: User Interface enhancements have been implemented for the CrossfireX, GPU Overdrive, and Information Center pages.

Nvidia GeForce 285.38 Beta will give both better stability and up to 38 percent better performance in Battlefield 3 and brings the following news;
- Increases performance in Battlefield 3 by up to 38%.
- Improves overall stability and image quality in Battlefield 3.
- Added or updated SLI profiles for Battlefield 3, Dead Island, Diablo III, Dragon Age 2, Need for Speed: The Run, and Saints Row: The Third.
- Fixed a performance regression in 285.27 beta running Crysis 2 (DirectX 9).
