Small preview imageAMD is really on the move and now a couple of months after it for the first time grabbed 20 percent of the processor market it is now time for another milestone. During the third quarter of 2005 AMD shipped 20.4 percent of all desktop based processors on the market. If you looked at all of the x86 based models it only had 17.7 percent of the market though as it couldn’t measure up to Intel on the movile market. Now Mercury Reasearch has released information about AMD and Intel’s processor sales for the fourth quarter of 2005 and AMD has increased through all of its processor series and now ships 21.4 percent of all x86 based processors, then including the mobile market.

The desktop market increased from last quarters 20.4 percent to 24.3 percent, while the mobile market increased from 12.2 percent to 15.1 percent. AMD’s goal the upcoming years is to reach a share of 30 percent, far from easy, but not impossible.
