AMD and Transmeta has now announced that AMD has invested $7.5 million in Transmeta stocks. The investment is suppose to tighten the bonds between the companies, both playing the role of underdog to chip giant Intel. The press release does not contain any information about any technical cooperations, it just mentions of the advancement of AMD64 and HyperTransport, and Transmeta’s power-efficient design in the past. All in all, it’s mainly a strategical investment and nothing fancy for now.
