AMD license Geode to China

AMD has together with Peking University and Chinese Ministry of Science and Technology started a cooperation where the latter two will get access to AMD’s K7-architecture which Geode uses. AMD will get a boost in the revenues from an outdated architecture and access to the technoligcal progress the Chinese makes with the technology, while China gets access to “newer” processor architectures. The reason that it’s Geode is that the American authorities don’t allow AMD to release any of its newer architectures to China.
