AMD has now decided to open a new pavilion for developers in the virtual world Second Life. Second Life is thus  a virtual community with inhabitants that can walk around in this world. AMD has its own place there too; AMD Dev Central Island, which it has now expanded with a new pavilion that is geared toward developers and programmers. AMD will hold lectures, meetings and courses for developers there and to lure people to the new virtual establishment it has announced that it will hold a treasure hunt with the programing language used in Second Life, Linden scripting language. The first meeting will be held on February 25 where it will present Second Life and its possibilities for developers.

“The Second Life metaverse is a gathering place for both new and established developers /…/Through the interactive virtual experience at the pavilion, we hope to provide developers with an outlet to learn and grow, such as helping them to optimize native code for multi-threaded applications. Additionally, the treasure hunt and future developer challenges provide a creative outlet for developers to express their unique abilities.” – Paul Nolte, AMD project manager and contributing builder for the AMD Developer Central Second Life Pavilion
