Athlon 64 X2 5000+ is one of the processors that AMD is expected to launch with Socket AM2 during the second quarter of 2006 and from inofficial roadmaps the new dual-core processor has been more or less confirmed by AMD. it has in a document known as “AMD Athlon 64 Processor Power and Thermal Data Sheet (PDF)” published detailed information about Athlon 64 X2 5000+ without making any fuss. The document lists X2 5000+ as a processor with dual cores running at 2600MHz with a HyperTransport bus at 1000MHz. The document has at different locations specified a L2 cache at 2x1MB and 2x512KB where the latter seems less likely considering AMD’s earlier PR-rating system. The TDP value is at 110W just as with Athlon 64 FX-60, which also works at 2600MHz with two cores.
X2 5000+ will not appear before June 6 when AMD will launch Socket AM2 and there is no indications for that the new processor would appear for the Socket 939 platform.
