Turion 64 is AMD’s reply to Intel’s mobile processor Pentium M. While Intel announced its new processorarchitecture at IDF which has borrowed a lot from Pentium M AMD took the oppurtunity to reveal its dual-core version of Turion 64 at a hotel nearby. Except for dual cores the new Turion-processor uses AMD’s new Socket S1 with 638 pins and support for DDR2. It didn’t specify any details on its heat dissipation, but announced it will be much cooler than Athlon 64 X2. Turion 64 with dual cores is expected to show up during the first six months of 2006, during the same period AMD will launch its new desktop processors for Socket M2. Source: DV Hardware
