AMD’s R6xx series had been delayed over and over again, but it won’t be long now before we will actually see AMD’s first DirectX 10 capable graphics card on the market. The fact that AMD will launch a whole new generation of cards, all with full DX10 support and with Windows Vista backing them, has made the system builders very uneager and according to The Inquirer the budget model RV610 has already been sold in quite massive amounts. One of the most active builders is suppose to be Dell that is currently planning a lot of things for AMD’s 65nm circuit. With its DX10 support and Windows Vista certified drivers Dell can install these cards in loads of new Vista machines and let the marketing do the rest.
“As yet unlaunched, its DX10 entry-level chip, R(V)610 is already set to become the fastest-selling graphics chip of all time. OEMs just went beserk for these cards, able to bring Vista capabilities and gaming at baseline resolutions for a very affordable price, thanks to 65nm manufacturing process at TSMC.”
We’re looking forward to the first reviews of RV610 and the remaining R6xx-based graphics cards., which all should happen very soon.
