AMD has finally started to ship B3 revision Opterons to partners. AMD literally stopped shipping B2 Opterons after the TLb bug got such a huge exposure, DailyTech got their hands on a picture of a B3 stepping Opteron that has arrived at a vendor. The vendor was more or less ecstatic over finally receiving B3 Opterons. This particular piece was made in week 7 this year. You can tell that it’s a B3 by looking at the last two letters of the product code. It should say “GH” instead of “GD”, which is B2. This should also mean that higher frequency Phenoms are on schedule and should appear sometime next month, if we’re lucky.
Over at Anandtech they’ve posted a short preview which confirms the fact that B3 was nothing more than a bug fix. No additional performance gained.
