AMD Trinity will launch next year as the second generation APU with an updated version of the CPU architecture Bulldozer will be introduced and paired with a fresh graphics. Despite the first Bulldozer processors hasn’t launched yet AMD has showed working samples of AMD Trinity that use an updated CPU architecture.

AMD Piledriver is the name of the CPU architecture that will be used in Trinity APU and even if we have few details on Piledriver the architecture will bring optimized performance per clock cycle and most likely be even more efficient.

While Trinity will use an updated version of Bulldozer the APU should not be seen as a the successor to the AMD FX series. AMD Trinity is an APU and will bring 2-4 Piledriver cores and integrated graphics circuit to replace Llano and the AMD A series in the mid-range.

During IDF 2011 AMD took the opportunity to show a notebook with a Trinity APU that ran the new DirectX 11 title Deus Ex : Human Revolution. On a video filmed by Anandtech we can see how Trinity APU is compared to Intel’s Sandy Bridge platform, that gives worse FPS and graphics settings (DX9).

Exactly when Trinity will launch we don’t know and even if we are startig to be frustrated over the Bulldozer delays it is nce to see that the next generation APU is healthy.
