AMD will as usual be at Intel Developer Forum and during this spring’s event it will reveal no less than three new processor platforms, Socket-AM2, Socket-S1 and Socket-F. Simply AMD’s DDR2 platforms for the three markets; desktop, mobile and server. Socket-AM2, which we have been reporting a lot about lately, will use 940 pins, while Socket-S1 for the mobile market, with support for Turion 64 X2, will use 754 pins. The server platform, Socket-F, goes big and brings 1207 pins and uses the LGA form factor, which means that instead of the processor having pins the socket has them, just as Intel’s Socket 775.
