The financial trouble at AMD is a constant worry, even though AMD has been improving its market shares. It now seems that AMD will launch the new Barcelona architecture in September. Despite that AMD hasn’t said it right out that it is Barcelona that will be launched, many expects that the launch party that will be held on on the tenth will be for Barcelona. Barcelona is suppose to strengthen AMD’s position on the 2P server market and turn the ongoing negative trend.
We’ve previously reported that AMD will be shipping Barcelona at speeds up to 2 GHz, and that higher frequencies will be shipped later this year.
Phenom (Agena/Kuma/Deneb) is expected to arrive two-three months after Barcelona, which means that the new chipsets from AMD, RD780/790, and motherboards will arrive in November.
