It’s starting to feel like a bore pointing out that AMD/ATI graphics cards and Linux is a fatal combination, and not in a good way. On the other hand it should also be pointed out that ATI has improved the performance of its drivers lately, but they are still far from satisfactory in many other ways. Well now the next step comes as AMD VP Henri Richard has revealed that AMD will go all the way and release open source drivers and even revamp the way it interacts with the Linux community. This has to be considered one of the best piece of news an ATI owner and Linux user, as myself, can receive. We can only hope that things will start to happen and that the drivers will become better overall.
