AMD/ATI has now released its last graphics card driver of the year and Catalyst 6.12 was made available for download at the manufacturer’s website immediately. The big news about these drivers is the support for DirectX video acceleration with CrossFire configurations. Except from this it has also solved the performance problems in games, but also improved the playback of DVD movies in PowerDVD. It points out that Catalyst 6.12 does not support Stanford’s folding@home client so those of you who are using your Radeon graphics cards for folding proteins all day long should wait to upgrade. The next version of Catalyst will apparently solve the problems with Stanford’s’ GPU client. More information about Catalyst 6.12 can be found at AMD’s website.
