AMD announced its acquisition of graphics circuit manufacturer ATI yesterday, something which literelly dominated the whole news flow. Without a doubt a direct reply to Intel’s launch of Conroe where the flagship Core 2 Extreme X6800 is expected to appear in stores in a few days. Most Athlon 64 models has had their prices halved or what would you say about an Athlon 64 X2 3800+ for about $160. A processor which cost more than $300 a few days ago. AMD has now played its trump against Intel’s lanuch of Conroe, the question is if it will be enough.
