Apple avslöjade under lanseringen av sin nya MacBook-serie att man fortfarande avvaktar med stöd för Blu-ray och alltså inte utrustat sina MacBooks med någon Blu-ray spelare trots att formatkriget är över och Blu-ray marknaden växer för var dag. Enligt Apple är det fortfarande inte en tillräckligt stor marknad för att man ska berättiga de extra kostnader det innebär att trycka in Blu-ray spelare i sina maskiner. För dem Mac-anhängare som är av annan åsikt har nu AMEX kommit till er räddning, man har lanserat en ytterst slimmad extern Blu-ray spelare just för Apples MacBook modeller.
