Software developers SlySoft has announced that the newest version of the backup tool AnyDVD will be able to work around the newest and fourth version of AACS, but also that they are currently working on circumventing the hyped BD+ copy protection used by the Blu-ray camp. While HD DVD settled for using just AACS, which was cracked faster than someone could google what AACS actually stands for (it’s Advanced Access Content System), Blu-ray uses three kind of protections; AACS, BD+ and BD-ROM Mark. This first has been cracked, the latter is mainly for prohibiting illegal mass production of Blu-ray movies, but BD+ is a real hinder for making backups, but with the next version of AnyDVD, which is slated for arrival before the end of the year, individuals will be able to back-up their Blu-ray movies.
