Apple buys 40% of Samsung’s NAND Flashmemory

iPod Shuffle is selling just as we’ve been reporting and now Apple has plans for purchasing 40 percent of Samsung Electronic’s NAND flashmemory production during the  last six months of 2005. According to iSuppli it is not only the Shuffle that will use the memories. It claims that Apple will launch a new 4GB iPod Mini which uses flash instead of a harddrive. All this because Samsung offers Apple incredible prices for its memories, which might make it hard for smaller manufacturers to meet the reuirements. The demand for 4GB iPod Mini is so big that a flashbased player would be able to cover 11-22 percentage of the entire world’s sale of NAND flash.
