Apple Intel Mac ships with Windows XP

Small preview imageNow it looks like the first Apple machines with Windows XP pre-installed are to show up on the market as one of the biggest Apple sellers Macmall has announced that they have started shipping iMac, Macbook Pro and Mac Mini’s with Windows XP Pro optionally installed. The installation of Windows XP costs an additional $100 and utilizes Apples official Boot Camp software. The fact that Intel-Macs are the only ones out there able to use both Mac OS X and Windows XP today, is actually a good thing for Apple, but whether the upsides beats the downsides or not is hard to tell. Although many think that more people are considering buying one of Apples machines as they now support Windows XP as well.

Analysts are predicting that a trend such as that being done by MacMall, will give Apple a considerable foot-hold in competing with companies such as Dell, HP and others. Those customers who previously wanted to switch to a Mac but were held back by application support concerns now have virtually nothing to worry about.
