Apple is just as other computer manufacturers working hard to be able to meet the demand coming during the upcoming school start and because of this it has launched a new iMac that will satisfy students looking for a high value computer. The new 17″ iMac will cost 899 dollar from scratch and then we find a 1.83GHz Core Duo processor, 512MB DDR2-667 RAM, CD writer that can read DVDs, 80GB harddrive and generic inputs such as Gigabit Ethernet, Firewire, USB and wireless networking. Apple has stripped its new iMac of several things and this is not surprising as as it has moved over to Intel’s integrated GMA950 graphics circuit, from ATI’s Radeon X1600 circuit that was used in the previous iMac models.

“The 17-inch iMac for education is available immediately and will replace the eMac®, Apple’s last CRT based computer, providing students and teachers everything they need to learn and create in today’s digital classroom, all in the ultra-efficient iMac design.”

As a computer builder the school start is one of Apple’s most important happenings during the year and we’ve earlier received indications of a delay of its new iPod Nano player, which could become very expensive for Apple if it will miss out on the school start.

Speaking of iPod Nano Apple has a small bonus rebate for those college students who are interested in its Mac computers. Those who buy a MacBook, MacBook Pro, PowerMac G5 or iMac can get a free iPod Nano sent home by mailing a rebate code to Apple.
