Apple was earlier sued by an American consumer that claimed that the company’s iPod player could cause permanent damage to ones hearing as it simply allows too high volume. It has been offering a software that limits the volume to 100dB in France for a long time. Now it has released an updated software for iPod in the USA, and the rest of the world, which makes it possible for iPod users to set its own limit for how high the threshold should be. Apple is lifts the responsibility from its shoulders on to the consumers’, which we feel is the right thing to do here, but many will most likely complain about that you still have the possibility to set it too high.
