There have been many rumors surrounding Apple’s new MacBook models and yesterday Apple finally unveiled them. The new MacBook design has borrowed certain elements from MacBook Air, among others the aluminum design and stylish keyboard. There is more though, like the glossy display with black border panel. Apple has also introduced its “Brick” manufacturing process we reported about earlier where the case is carved from a solid block of aluminum for better durability and overall easier assembly.
The Brick design enabled Apple to make its MacBook series even thinner and the slimmer exterior has been further improved through the new touchpad made from hardened glass. Apple also threw out the touchpad buttons, pressing the touchpad is now the same as a single click and has resulted in 39% more surface for the fingers to travel upon, says Apple.
The hardware matches the rumors, as Apple has turned to NVIDIA for better graphics performance in its laptops. The new 13.3″ MacBook houses the GeForce 9400M chip which is five times faster than Intel’s solution, according to Apple.
The top model MacBook Pro with 15.4″ display has an external chip in the shape of GeForce 9600M GT for even better 3D performance. It is possible to switch between the two chips to optimize 3D performance or improve battery time.
Apple’s new MacBook models costs $999 while MacBook Pro starts at $1,999, but if you want goodies is like Solid State Drives and such the prices rise to a very uncomfortable level. More information on Apple’s new computers can be found at the official website.
