Apple seems to have accidentally revealed that it is working on an iPod with a touch screen. There are apparently clear indications for that Apple’s coming widescreen iPod will use a touch screen interface and now the final evidence have been leaked through Apple’s own developers documents. In its iPod Notes Feature Guide document, Pomcast has been able to find something very interesting back at page 10.
“Linking to photos and videos is supported only for 5th generation iPods running iPod Software version 1.2 or later. All other Notes feature capabilities described in this document are supported for iPod models with display screens, beginning with the touch-screen models.”
The last part sounds like a pretty clear-cut proof for that Apple has a touch screen iPod coming and then most likely the real iPod Video with a widescreen display. According to Apple Gazette we should be able to expect a launch by Apple very soon, especially considering Microsoft’s pending launch of Zune in just two weeks. Apple will most likely not just sit idly by and observe as Microsoft tries to grab market shares.
