Asetek has launched a new product in its WaterChill-series, but this time it is something as trivial as a pump. Although not just any pump but a pump where Asetek has increased the number of uses from just pumpong water. First of all the pump also doubles as a water reservoir which eliminates another component of the system. But the perhaps most interesting part is that the pump can be controlled since it can be connected to your computer via USB and using a program developed by Asetek you can control both pump and fans cooling your radiators. The Asetek WaterChill 12V pump has been equipped with both a controlchip and special software that makes it possible to control the pump’s speed and if you connect the fans to the controller card you can also control their speeds via the software. The controller card supports up to 6 fans in groups of three, I.e. two groups with three fans each. It can also show information via an LCD-panel that can be connected directly to the pump to give a quick overview. It’s not every day you get to see pump with such a rich list of features, probably the first to be honest. That WaterChill 12V pump can act as both, pump, reservoir and fan controller sounds like a very interesting combination. The price is perhaps a bit steep but considering what you get it’s not that bad, the base version will cost you 59 euro. but that doesn’t include the reservoir nor the hoseconnections, while a complete kit, the top model known as Xtreme, will cost you 77.50 euro. We look forward to see how this “intelligent” pump will be greated by the consumers and hot it performs as a pump and fan controller, but hopefully more companies will follow Asetek’s example and try to explore more exotic solutions.
