Acer continues its hunt for 50 percent share of the netbook market by launching the first 11.6″ models. Acer Aspire One 751 was recently presented with a larger 11.6″ display, but beside the screen being larger it also sports a higher resolution. Except from Dell’s alternative 10″ for its Mini 10, pretty much all 10″ netbook displays sport 1024×576 pixel resolution.
Acer has raised this to 1366×768 pixels with Aspire One 751 and even though the screen is about 1.5″ bigger, the outer measurements have remained pretty much the same, if not better thickness-wise. By slimming the case the computer is around an inch wider than most 10″ netbooks. The additional space is used to make room for a better keyboard with larger keys.
The measurements are quite impressive considering the larger screen;
| Model | Width | Depth | Thickness |
| Acer Aspire One 751 | 284 | 198 | 25 mm |
| ASUS EeePC 1000HE | 266 | 191 | 38 mm |
| Samsung NC10 | 261 | 186 | 30 mm |
| MSI WIND U100 | 259 | 178 | 30 / 34 mm |
Aspire One 751 is noticeably thinner than most 10″ models and weighs only 1.24kg. Acer uses the Intel Atom Z530 processor together with Intel’s US15W Poulsbo chipset and a 6 cell battery for up to 8 hours of battery time.
With 1GB RAM and 160GB harddrive the price will land around $400, while a faster model with 2GB RAM and 250GB HDD will cost around $500. This means that it is actually cheaper than most equivalent 10″ models.
