ASRock X79 Extreme9 looks to become one of the killer motherboards this Winter. The Taiwanese company has now released high resolution photos of the first Intel X79 motherboard from the Extreme series and the top model makes good use of the name.
ASRock X79 Extreme9 is so far the only of the X79 motherboards that haven’t been listed around these parts, and considering what the pictures show we hope it won’t take long before it is. ASRock has been meticulous and made sure the Extreme9 model lives up to the name sporting everything you would want from such a board.
The deep black circuit board have some extra layers of copper and gold-plated connectors and graphical details, but it is the components that makes us want it. Five PCI Express 3.0 x16 ports for 3-way SLI and CrossFireX, 12 SATA ports, a bunch of USB 3.0 ports (6 or maybe even 8), 8 DDR3 memory slots and dedicated buttons for Start, Reboot and Clear CMOS. Diode for troubleshooting and a big piece of cooling for the voltage regulators include functions worth mentioning.
The cream of the crop is an expansion card that houses Creative’s latest quad-core sound processor Sound Core3D and most likely a network circuit from Bigfoot Networks. Even if the latter has not been confirmed.
ASRock has not released any pricing for ASRock X79 Extreme9, but it will be a premium board and we estimate a price around 400€.
ASRock also offers pictures of the remaining X79 Extreme motherboards and these can be seen below.
