We know have pictures of the board designed to house two Radeon HD 5870 circuits to make one monster of a HD 5970. A monster in more than one way. Three PCI-E connectors and a small copper mine for cooling is scary enough, but the raw physical size of the card is just terrifying.
ASUS had the following to say:
“The whole PCB will be covered by a copper heat spreader that connects with the memory ICs. The power circuits will each be cooled by a individual copper profile. All thermal profiles (heat sinks) will be anodized black to create true ROG aesthetics in black and red.”
The card will ship with Volterra voltage regulators for both GPU and memory, which enables users to change voltages through software. That is if you’re one of the lucky few to get a hold of ASUS ROG Ares.
