ASUS builds 1.2 million iBooks

ASUS is a big component manufacturer and it has for long been doing business with Apple making both the MP3 player iPod Shuffle and the notebook series iBook. ASUS has now once again gained Apple trust to make a series of iBooks; ~1.2 million units. The iBook series ASUS will build is the 13.3″ model based on Intel’s processor platform that will be launched by Apple in June and the LCD panels for the new series will be delivered by three different manufacturers during April and the following months.

The US firm will source the panels for the laptops from AU Optronics Corp (2409.TW) and Chi Mei Optoelectronics Corp (3009.TW) as well as South Korea’s LG Philips LCD.
